Autumn News 2016

And our survey says....

On Thursday 27th October, pupils and parents gathered in the hall for the first PTA event of the year.  Whilst the parents had a short AGM and elected the new committee, the children had games and dancing in the hall.  After some refreshments names were chosen at random to make up two teams for ‘Family Fortunes’.  The answers were drawn from a survey of the pupils in the school and the final ‘head-to-head round’ was down to Holly McCombe and Ruth Armstrong, who together managed to get enough points to win the top prize.  It was a night of fun and laughter and a unique insight into children’s minds… for example ‘Name something YOU would put in a bucket’.

Once again we collected an enormous number of shoes to send to Zomba through ZAP and we thank you for your generosity.

Eco-Update and International Links

The eco-committee have had a very busy first half-term.  with some apple picking, tidying up the school garden in preparation for winter and a Cash for Clobber collection.

We would also ask that you please keep collecting old newspapers, magazines and ink cartridges, and deposit them in the collection boxes in the entrance hall, as all these can be recycled to raise cash for the school and various charities.

The European Day of Languages was celebrated on Monday 26th September with games and activities using as many different languages as possible.  This is now an annual event, one of the many, such as our on-going Spanish lessons, which have helped us gain our International Award for the second time.

We were also delighted to hear that a group of past pupils had the opportunity to travel to Zomba in Malawi over the summer, to work on an orphanage project there and we look forward to hearing about their adventures.
We love to learn about other countries and cultures so if you or anyone you know has been travelling please contact Miss Steele, as we would love you to come and share your experiences with us.
